Disclosures
Effective Date: April 2026
Applies to: ThriftEdge Chrome Extension and thriftedge.com
This page is a plain-language summary of every commercial relationship that influences what we link to. We follow the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s endorsement guidelines: any link that may pay us a commission is disclosed here, on every page footer, and at the point of click inside the Extension.
1. Amazon Associates
ThriftEdge participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
As an Amazon Associate, ThriftEdge earns from qualifying purchases.
This means: when the Extension or this website links you to a product on Amazon and you go on to make a qualifying purchase, Amazon may pay ThriftEdge a small commission. The price you pay is identical — Amazon does not pass the commission on to the buyer.
2. eBay Partner Network
We anticipate joining the eBay Partner Network so that outbound links to eBay sold-comp searches can also support the project. This program is not yet active. When it is, this page will be updated and the Extension will start adding the relevant tracking parameter to eBay links the same way it does for Amazon.
Until then, links to eBay from the Extension carry no affiliate parameters.
3. Other Relationships
ThriftEdge has no other paid placements, sponsorships, or affiliate relationships at this time. We are not paid by mac.bid, GovDeals, CamelCamelCamel, or any other third party referenced by the Extension. We are not paid to feature any specific product, brand, or category.
If that changes, this page will be updated before the change ships.
4. How Affiliate Links Work
An affiliate link is just a normal URL with an extra parameter (a “tag”) appended. For Amazon, that parameter looks like ?tag=thriftedge-20.
- You go to the same product page you would have reached anyway.
- You pay the same price you would have paid anyway.
- If you make a qualifying purchase, the destination retailer credits the referral to ThriftEdge and may pay us a commission out of their margin.
- The Extension does not see whether you completed a purchase. Amazon does not share purchaser identity with affiliates — only aggregate counts and totals.
Power users can configure their own Amazon Tracking ID in the Extension settings — if you do, your tag is used instead of ours, and any commission is credited to your account.
5. What We Don’t Do
- No tracking pixels. The Extension does not load remote tracking images, fingerprint scripts, or analytics beacons.
- No remarketing. We don’t build audience lists, share data with ad networks, or fuel retargeting campaigns.
- No purchase telemetry. We never see what you bought, how much you spent, or whether you converted.
- No selling of user data. We have no user data to sell. The Extension does not transmit usage data to us in the first place — see the Privacy Policy for the full data-handling description.
6. Editorial Independence
We choose what to link to based on what helps a buyer make a better bidding decision — not on commission rates. The Extension surfaces eBay sold comps, Amazon listings, and CamelCamelCamel charts side by side because each one answers a different question. The presence or absence of an affiliate program for a destination has no effect on whether we link to it.
7. Contact
If you have questions about any of these relationships or want to flag a disclosure issue, please contact us at hello@thriftedge.com.
